| 1. Incontinence Program
- Do you know that 1 in 3 women who have had a baby wet themselves?
- Did you know that 1 in 3 residents in nursing homes are there because they are incontinent?
Incontinence in women is most often caused by a weakening of the pelvic floor muscles which form a sling or hammock from the pelvic bone to the tail bone. These muscles support your bladder, bowel and uterus/vagina holding them up in place. If the support is gone this can cause incontinence and/or prolapse of these organs.
A Weak Pelvic Floor can be caused by:
- Pregnancy and childbirth
- Constipation (straining)
- Chronic cough (smoking, asthma, bronchitis)
- Persistent heavy lifting
- Being overweight
- Hormonal changes at menopause
- Chronic back pain
Some Symptoms Are:
- Going to the toilet more than 6 times a day
- Going throughout the night more than 1-2 times
- Strong feeling of urgency to empty your bladder
- Loss of urine with a cough/sneeze, jumping, running, etc

Mastectomy Operation
Post
mastectomy women should be given a home
regimen that they must do permanently
- if rediotherapy is involve, skin care
is also a necessity. Home programs are
simple & are effective in pain reduction
& improvement in lymphatic drainage.
If lymphatic drainage becomes a problem
then attendance at our Hydrotherapy Centre
will assit in fluid control.

with the program, with an assessment 3
months latter to determine the degree
of progress.
